Dr. Michael Bourgoin was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Rochester, N.Y. He enrolled in college at SUNY at Potsdam and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences. He ventured to Berkeley, California, to the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his doctorate degree in optometry in 1992 with honors. Dr. Bourgoin has a wide range of experience in optometry prior to acquiring his practice in 2002, which has been established since 1959.
He loves practicing optometry because of the opportunity to do something to help people. “Genuinely caring about our patients makes the job more satisfying. I enjoy getting to know the families and seeing them year after year. Some have been coming here for 40 years or more.” Dr. Bourgoin is a specialist in Low Vision, which involves a deeper understanding in helping patients with impaired vision and blindness.
